When you start a journey and don’t have direction, you won’t reach your destination. This time, with the help of my health coach, Dawn Baumgartner, I have a clear map for my health journey! For the FIRST TIME in 30 years, I purchased a 2x shirt, not a 4x! 😁 Down 54 lbs...45 to go!
Our journey started in January 2023 after 2 major surgeries (knee replacement and back surgery) and two years of slow recovery. I was told by my doctor to “stay on the couch and heal but by the way, you need to lose weight”. During a follow up visit, for the first time in my life I was told that my blood pressure was high and I was asked about diabetes. Since diabetes runs in my family, the conversation shook me up. I knew I needed to get some pressure off my joints to help the healing process in my knees and back and I had to reduce the growing risk of diabetes. I wanted to walk my daughter down the aisle in good health and spend my retirement years enjoying life with my family! But that is only HALF of my “why”.
The other half is my son….he’s 26 years old and was having health issues due to his weight. He was headed down the same path as me and something had to change quickly. I wanted to be an example of healthy living for him and prayed for an answer to how I could do that as the leader of my family.
That’s when God reconnected me with an old friend, who connected us with Dawn! It seemed very random at the time, but we know there are no coincidences when God is in control. That was January, 2023….now it’s July, 2023 and our lives and relationships have been completely transformed. I have lost 86 pounds and 31 inches, my wife has lost 38 pounds and 22 inches, and our son has lost 110+ pounds on his way to releasing a goal of 150+ pounds. We encourage each other, we work out together, we have dinner together, we shop for new clothes together, we go to the beach together….our energy levels are incredible and we are healthier now than we were in college.
We are forever grateful for this program and the Health Journey it has provided for us. Thank you Dawn for your guidance and friendship on this journey, and your mentorship as we transition into a coaching role to help others achieve their health goals.
