'Something' is all you need to move forward

Maybe this is something you've been struggling with. I know I have.

It's the concept of 'all-or-nothing.'

Have you ever lived in the 'all-or-nothing' camp?

Like...

"Listen, this is all or nothing."

"I have to get it all done today."

"I have to get it all done this week."

"I have to do all the things."

I've lived in the 'all-or-nothing' camp for many, many years.

And recently, I'm learning more about all or...something.

(⬇️See the video if you wanna watch instead of read, or read on below.⬇️)

'Something' is all you need to move forward

All-or-something

(Yep, that's a thing. Mind-blowing, right?)

You might not do it all, but you're gonna do something.

➡️ You don't have to run the marathon. (Or just sit on the couch.) You can run the 5k.

➡️ You don't have to clean the whole house. (Or scroll your phone in overwhelm.) Just clean the kitchen.

➡️ You don't have to send all the email communications today. Just the ones that have to happen.

All-or-something.

Do you live in "miraculous"? Where everything has to be the best of the best?

Why are we believing that lie? That we have to make everything happen.

When really, it could be about making something happen.

Perfection is the enemy of progress.

I love the saying, "Perfection is the enemy of progress."

I always have to remind myself of that. And my clients of that. And now I'm here to remind you of that too.

You could do something today. What's something could you do? A small bite off of something bigger.

And then what's the next something you're gonna do?

So if you've been stuck in all-or-nothing—or having days when you wake up thinking "Oh my gosh I just don't have the energy to do all of this today"—remember...just wash that off and start moving into something.

All these little somethings add up. They still help you move big things forward, and feel confident and accomplished.

You're enough, and it's enough!

Love doing life with you,

Dawn

Constantly course-correcting got you tense?
I was doing a little highway-driving a couple of weeks ago. When I first got behind the wheel, everything felt easy. Smooth roads, fresh energy, cruising right along. But after some time on the road, I noticed I was having to apply extra pressure to keep the car centered in the lane. There wasn't even a strong wind—and pretty sure my car's in alignment—but nonetheless it kept subtly drifting. P...
Stop treating future tasks as immediate priorities
Ever felt like you have 47 open tabs running in your brain, all demanding your full attention at the same time?  If so, you're in good company. Almost every leader and business professional I’ve spoken with over the last few weeks is feeling that same mental drag.  I compare this to being an air traffic controller. (Instead of 47 tabs, those are 47 planes in the air.) Air traffic controllers st...
Are you stuck in "Ready, Aim, Aim, Aim" mode?
Do you find yourself endlessly tweaking projects? Or waiting for the "perfect" time to launch a new initiative? Or over-analyzing a decision until you are completely paralyzed? You've no doubt heard the phrase "Ready, Aim, Fire" before. But a lot of us often fall into a different pattern. We get so focused on getting it exactly right that we end up stuck in "Ready, Aim, Aim, Aim" mode. We keep ...
