Where are you right now?
Not physically.
But where are you right now in life?
π§ Are you where you want to be?
π€© Are you excited about where you are?
π€ Are you frustrated with where you are?
(Sometimes I find myself jumping between these all in one day. π )
One of the things that’s becoming more apparent (both through myself and through others), is
What got you here, won’t get you there.
What got you to where you are today, probably isn’t going to take you to the next place. To where you want to go.
…unless you’ve just stopped dreaming. (And in that case, we should have a totally different conversation.)
Here are some examples to think about and reflect on for yourself…
(β¬οΈ Btw, you can βwatchβ instead of reading, or read on below. β¬οΈ)
If you’re single and looking to find a forever-person to do life with…
The same behaviors, patterns, activities and daily habits may not put you in a different position to meet somebody.
If you’re a business owner who’s built a huge team…
The things you did to grow that team are different than if you’re eyeballing a shift to a streamlined business model.
If you’re in ministry…
The activities you’ve been doing to get to 1500 church members, might not be enough to get you to 3000.
If you’re the parent of a small child…
The things you’ve done to help them thrive as a toddler, can be completely different from what they need to thrive at school.
Guys, we’ve gotta shift. We have to adjust. That’s life.
We’re constantly in a state of, “Hey, I’ve learned and applied some great things in my lifeβand yet now I have to change again. I have to grow again. I have to shift. I have to adjust and do something new.”
I’m here to tell you, that doesn’t ever change.
And unless you stop dreaming or stop having goals…it’s actually exciting. Instead of “Ugh, I have to change” or “Now this has to change”, let’s shift our perspective. Let’s ask ourselves, “Okay, so what does that make possible?” “What does this allow me to grow in or do?”
But also…
Remember to pause and reflect
Remember all you’ve done and overcome to get you to this beautiful place. Enjoy it. Look around. Figure out what’s happening. What you like. What you want to change.
And then when it’s time, pick up the things you’ve learned, and take them with you into your next season.
Recognize what you need, and start building toward your new thing. You may need to:
- Create some new habits
- Take some different actions
- Cultivate some new relationships
- Let in some new voices (or quiet some old voices)
- Get up earlier (which likely also means going to bed earlier)
- Change what’s going into your mouth
- Read different books
- Allow yourself to be challenged by new things, so you can build new muscles to move you into new spaces
So I’m just here today to remind you that what got you here, won’t get you there…and that’s okay.
Be okay with where you are and decide, “Am I ready to move?” “Am I ready to change?” “Am I ready to go to that next step?”
And if you are, recognize that’s going to require some new things from you.
Love doing life with you,
Dawn
